Steve Fontanini’s hand forged “Platter” provides a stunning surface to display anything from a geode or fossil collection to firewood at your hearthside. The deep black iron is finished with a wax surface to withstand the test of time. Both the off-center braid detail and the three legs that support the “Platter” provide interest, while remaining balanced. This piece would be at home in both a modern or rustic interior and is certain to be a conversation piece when one considers the amount of effort and time that went into its creation.
Steve Fontanini is a blacksmith, designer, and builder that uses steel, bronze, stainless steel, and aluminum. He’s taught blacksmithing classes and demonstrated both at his shop in Teton County, WY and throughout the US and says that the old adage, “the teacher learns more than the students,” still rings true. Steve was on-site in the BWH workshop to lead blacksmithing demonstrations during our grand opening and for two days in mid-August. His strength, precision, and ability to turn steel into incredible animals and objects is awe-inspiring.
