About this piece

Elevate your dining or entertaining space with the Whitney Bar Table Set, a masterpiece of woodworking that blends dramatic design with practical durability.

The round tabletop is the focal point, featuring an incredible sunburst veneer pattern crafted entirely from a single slab of highly figured walnut. This meticulous design ensures perfect grain and color matching, radiating outward to a striking, contrasting rim of curly maple.

The table stands on a sculptural base of figured walnut. Its gracefully curved legs provide exceptional stability while offering generous legroom—perfect for comfortable, extended conversations.

This is a piece of furniture you can truly live with. The entire table is finished with a durable, hand-rubbed clear varnish that offers superior protection. Unlike many high-end finishes, this one is engineered to be repairable, resist water spots, and easily withstand alcohol spills, ensuring its beauty endures for generations of use.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ron is originally from upstate New York, attended Utah State University, and after graduation worked as a maintenance mechanic for a local manufacturer. By 1982, Ron was making pieces for himself and his friends, in addition to a few clients. He continued to hone his techniques in finishing and joinery, and turned to the artistic aspects of furniture makers. Ron now lives and works outside of Preston, Idaho with his wife, son, and daughter. Surrounded by a forest of his own trees, Ron carries on a family tradition, his grandfathers were both cabinetmakers. Ron is inspired by the grandeur of the Mountain West, its wildlife, and beautifully figured wood. His style is a mix of influences including Sam Maloof and Wendell Castle, and he embraces a more contemporary aesthetic. As he says, he creates tomorrow’s heirlooms today.
