Born in Whitehorse, Yukon, in 1957, he was fortunate to grow up surrounded by the untamed beauty of the northern wilderness. This early exposure to nature instilled in him a deep appreciation for the land and its many wonders.
As a young man, he explored a wide range of careers—working as a faller in the forest industry, laying pipelines in the oil fields, training horses, competing in rodeos, and guiding big game hunts. Eventually, he found his true calling in the guide outfitting industry, a career that spanned an impressive 46 years and led him through the breathtaking landscapes of the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and northern British Columbia.
In the winter of 1981, his journey took an unexpected turn to Oklahoma, where he was introduced to the world of custom boot and saddle making. This craft ignited a passion that remains with him to this day. His talent for creating intricate floral leather stamping patterns fueled a desire to refine his drawing skills, pushing him to experiment with new techniques. Always one to think outside the box, he began exploring ways to carve relief designs into the horns and antlers that were so abundant in his outfitter lifestyle.
Each carving project presents a new challenge—an opportunity to uncover the inner beauty and unique character hidden within the natural material. He approaches every piece as if it holds a story waiting to be revealed, shaping his designs to bring out its essence.
